Wonderful 19th century Italian painting. Oil painting on canvas, first canvas, depicting a splendid praying Madonna who takes as a model a late Baroque devotional composition, presumably influenced by the work of Carlo Cignani (1628-1719). The smooth treatment of the flesh, the softness of the draperies and the ecstatic expression recall the work of the great Emilian master (The painting is not currently accompanied by an expertise, but it is possible to request it upon payment of the relevant additional costs). Contemporary frame in carved and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with color recovery in small spots, also has a slight tear at the height of the book (see photo). Overall in good condition. Interior size H 71 x W 57 cm.
