An important 17th-century Italian painting. This artwork oil on canvas depicts a large still life with fruit, of remarkable pictorial quality. We see velvety peaches, ripe figs, pears, citrus fruits, a bunch of grapes, and an open watermelon revealing its dark seeds. The attention to different surfaces and naturalistic details, such as the dew on the pears' skins, the transparency of the glass, and the moist flesh of the watermelon, is noteworthy.
