COD 11470
Antique Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil artwork on canvas depicting a biblical subject, Abraham sending away Hagar and Ishmael, of excellent pictorial quality. According to the story of Genesis, at the behest of his wife Sarah, Abraham was forced to chase away the Egyptian slave Hagar with whom he had previously had another son named Ishmael. All this had happened to prevent Isaac from having to share his father's inheritance with him. A painting of great pictorial intensity, characterized by a skilful use of chiaroscuro and a remarkable quality of the drapery.
Large painting adorned with a 19th century carved and gilded wooden frame, with some signs of aging. Painting that has undergone restoration with relining, replacement of the frame and restoration of color in some places (see photo). Overall in good state of conservation. Sight size H 40 x W 57 inches.
