An elegant mid-20th-century Italian dresser. This Louis XVI-style furniture is richly inlaid with walnut, rosewood, maple, palisander, and fruitwood. A high-quality, beautifully sized chest of drawers, it is ideal for a living room or bedroom. It rests on four sturdy inlaid legs shaped like inverted pyramids.
The top is embellished with a central decoration featuring musical instruments and playing cards. The sides, the decoration of the two lower drawers, and the band of the top drawer are adorned with folk figures, floral ornaments, and festoons (see photo). The commode comes with three working keys, and is of good capacity and usable. It has recently undergone polishing and conservative restoration, and is structurally sound and in good condition.
