Spanish painting dated 1895. Oil on canvas, first canvas, artwork depicting a portrait of a pirate (corsair or bravo) of excellent pictorial quality. A beautifully sized and easily posed painting, this is a highly appealing and impactful subject, ideal for antique dealers, interior decorators, and collectors of unusual portraits. Signed and dated upper left Belli 95 (see photo), attributable to the painter Benito Belli (active 1870–1899). Additional documentation is missing. Beautifully decorated 20th-century carved and gilded (bronze-stained) wooden frame. The painting has a beautiful patina and is in good condition. Internal dimensions: H 55.5 x W 43 cm.
