Spanish painting dated 1901. Painting oil on canvas, first canvas, depicting a sea view, a glimpse of a cliff with boats, of excellent pictorial quality. A nicely sized and attractively decorated painting, adorned with a non-contemporary carved and gilded wood and plaster frame. The painting unfolds horizontally, with an imposing cliff where the painter has created a delightful interplay of light and shadow (see photo).
Two small sailboats create a pleasing contrast with the imposing mountain. Signed and dated lower right G. Forteza 1901 (see photo), signature under study. The painting has a beautiful patina, having undergone conservative restoration and the replacement of the stretcher. It shows some small signs of aging, but is in overall good condition. Internal dimensions: H 64 x W 104.5 cm.
