An antique 17th-century Italian oil painting on canvas depicting the portrait of a young scholar or artist, executed with great painterly skill. The painting has a vertical orientation and excellent proportions, making it easy to place in various areas of the home. It has undergone conservative restoration, including relining, replacement of the stretcher, and minor color touch-ups. The figure is rendered with exquisite attention to detail, from the distinctive hat to the pen nib held between the fingers. A painting of great character rare to find given its subject matter and quality and in good condition.
